What does a Bourdon gauge measure?

A Bourdon gauge is specifically designed to measure gas pressure. It operates based on the principle of a coiled tube that tends to straighten when subjected to pressure. As the gas applies pressure to the inside of the coiled tube, it causes the tube to uncoil slightly. This movement is translated through a mechanical linkage to a dial that indicates the pressure reading.

In applications where gauging gas pressure is critical, such as in gas supply systems or various scientific experiments, the Bourdon gauge is particularly valuable due to its durability and simplicity. It is not suitable for measuring liquid flow, temperature, or pH levels, which require different types of instruments specifically designed for those measurements.
